The eddy-current sorting machine has a good sorting effect on a variety of non-magnetic metals, can effectively implement automatic separation of non-metallic materials and non-ferrous metals, and can efficiently recover various non-ferrous metals.
Eddy current separation

Working principle of eddy current separator
The core principle of an eddy current separator (taking an eddy current separator used for non-ferrous metal separation as an example) is to utilize the induced current (eddy current) generated in a conductor in a high-frequency alternating magnetic field. A high-speed rotating magnetic roller generates an alternating magnetic field. When non-ferrous metals (such as aluminum and copper) pass through this magnetic field, eddy currents are induced inside. These eddy currents generate a repulsive force opposite to the original magnetic field, causing the metal to be ejected and separated from the non-conductive material.
Working process of eddy current separator
- Material Entry: The mixed materials (usually crushed) are fed into the rotating magnetic roller area via a conveyor belt.
- Magnetic Field Induction: The internal magnetic rollers (usually rare-earth permanent magnets) rotate at high speed, creating a high-frequency alternating magnetic field at the end of the conveyor belt.
- Eddy Current Generation: When non-ferrous metal materials enter the high-speed rotating magnetic field, induced eddy currents are generated inside the metal due to changes in magnetic flux.
- Repulsive Separation: This eddy current generates a magnetic field opposite in direction to the original magnetic field. The strong magnetic repulsive force generated by this opposite magnetic field propels the non-ferrous metals (such as aluminum, copper, zinc, etc.) forward, causing them to pass the separating plate and fall into the non-ferrous metal zone.
- Non-metallic Fall: Non-conductive materials (such as plastics, glass, wood, stainless steel, etc.) do not generate eddy currents and are less affected by magnetic forces. They fall directly due to gravity or along a shorter trajectory to another area, thus achieving the separation of metals and non-metals.
Advantages of eddy currents
1.Non-contact and high efficiency
2.High sensitivity and accuracy
3.Universality and wide application
4.Strong sorting capability (environmentally friendly and energy-saving)
5.Adapt to complex environments
